Kids Bedroom - Washington Street
This space was originally a pass-through room, between the kitchen and the bathroom/primary bedroom area. The space was previously utilized as an office, but the use of the space was limited by the fact that there were two open doorways opposite each other, and people would walk through it regularly. We decided to close one of the doorways (on the kitchen side) and make the space a (small) bedroom/ nursery; perfect for cribs/ toddler beds. We were able to create a small closet in the space, and, for the closet door, we salvaged a door taken from a 1780 farmhouse in Milton, MA. We also added wall paneling to the room for more warmth and character. The vertical lines of the panelling help to draw the eye up and focus on the tall ceilings, thus making the very small space seem bigger. The scale of the furniture also helps to create that illusion!
