Living Room - Open Concept - Maddy Lane

Typical of a cape style home, this living room was separated from the kitchen by a wall. It also had 1970-style brick used on the fireplace, a blue ceiling, and vinyl wood flooring. We opened the space up to the kitchen by removing the wall, put in new oak flooring, and painted the walls and ceiling. We also refinished the fireplace with mortar, for a german shmear look, so that we could celebrate the brick material, but cover-up the periodic black bricks, and give a little more character to the too-perfect red ones.
